A quiet retreat while visiting La Rochelle

+ Although we speak very little French, we could communicate easily with Alain, who was very friendly and had some good suggestions for our stay. The apartment was roomy and well lit with a nice little balcony in « front » and an enclosed balcony in « back » that we used for drying laundry a few times. There were two separate bedrooms, a toilet room, a shower room with washing machine, and a living room with « breakfast bar » and kitchenette. It is not the newest building, but certainly in good repair. Once in the apartment, it was easy to forget that it was part of a large complex, because it was rather quiet and being in the second row from the main street was also protected from the street noises. Internet Wi-Fi worked well. A parking spot was right in front of the apartment and a bus stop three minute walking distance. Groceries and bakery within a few hundred meters. We could walk to the old city in a bit over half an hour and take the bus back after exploring the city. Any road excursion led to the N237, which was nearby.
– The barstools for the kitchenette were quite squeaky. There was no sink to wash hands in the toilet room.
